Braze Canvas Setup For Experimentation

To begin optimization, Neon Blue needs just one "ready-to-send" example for each touchpoint in your sequence. This approach preserves Yoru ownership of visual design while enabling Neon Blue to focus exclusively on content performance, resulting in an "always-optimizing" sequence.

  1. Duplicate the [Neon Blue] Example Draft Canvas. You may have to set the Status filter to All Statuses to see it.

  1. Basics

    1. Update the Canvas Name to reflect your desired intent.

    2. [Optional] Assign conversion events for Braze reporting. Neon Blue separately manages conversion events in our platform so anything specified is for in-Braze reporting. We will also use these as a guide when deciding which metrics to optimize for.

  2. [Optional] Entry Schedule

    1. [Optional] This is set to API-Triggered as the custom event work in Braze is still pending. We will need to coordinate with your engineering team to trigger this canvas based on the Canvas ID by describing the triggering conditions (similar to how we setup the welcome sequence).

  3. [Optional] Target Audience

    1. [Optional] By default, we filter canvas triggers by the Neon Blue Whitelist (this will allow us to measure Neon Blue performance cleanly versus control, as well as allowing Neon Blue to gradually increase the exposure to the experimentation system). Apply any additional specific audience filtering for the canvas.

    2. [Optional] Set any re-entry logic. For flows like the re-subscription flow, you likely want to allow re-entry into the canvas, on a say, 30+ day cooldown.

  4. [Optional] Send Settings

    1. [Optional] All of these settings are set to your canvas defaults. Make any canvas-specific adjustments as necessary.

  5. Build Canvas

    1. For each email / in-app message in the sequence, create a step in the canvas that contains a single, sendable example. Do this by clicking on the Message block and positioning the block on the canvas:

The highest priority for this step is for the layout / images / CTA links to reflect how you want the final send to look. If you can supply a specific example of content as well, we can use this as the basis for the variants to test, and Neon Blue can provide the subsequent permutations.

b. [Optional] Add any specific delays between steps (or describe to Neon Blue how you want the sequencing to proceed).

  1. When you're satisfied with the setup, send the draft canvas to Neon Blue and we'll transform it into a continuously optimizing sequence.
